Motorisation

In general, most customers do not need the full motorised blackout blind solution but if you are looking for blackout then avoid slatted window coverings. Roller blinds are the ideal solution and we have a large number of different fabrics to choose from. We can provide blackout blinds with any of our motorisation systems and they can therefore be mains powered or battery operated.

What are the main issues with creating blackout?

The main issue is the bleed around the side of the roller and, if you have floor to ceiling windows with the skirting impeding the blind drop then the problem is magnified. These issues can be overcome by adding a side channel to the blinds. This is normally an aluminium profile, with fabric brushes, that is fixed to the window reveal and sill. The blind runs down this channel preventing light creep around the edge of the blind.
